Menzies Centre for Health Policy

The Menzies Centre for Health Policy is an academic research centre conducting health policy research, analysis, advice and education. It was established in 2006 by a grant from the Menzies Foundation. The MCHP draws on the expertise of two of Australia’s premier universities. One node is based in the School of Public Health at the University of Sydney – MCHP (Sydney); the other node is based in the Crawford School of Public Policy at The Australian National University – MCHP (ANU). The two nodes operate under a common Board of Directors and work collaboratively on shared research grants.

The work of the MCHP focuses on improving health outcomes through policy analysis and innovation and practical implementation in health care and public health. Through its program of community engagement, MCHP encourages informed debate about health policy. Our aim is ensure that health policy reflects community values and priorities; policies that promote safe, high quality health care that is sustainable in the long term. Our policy analysis is also concerned with understanding the impact of broader government policies on health and health care and informing these from a health perspective.
