MD PhD

Masoud Mirzaei, Research Fellow, SCIPPSMasoud joined the Menzies Centre for Health Policy in January 2007 as Research Fellow for the Serious and Continuing Illness Policy and Practice Study (SCIPPS).

Prior to joining the SCIPPS program, Masoud was a PhD student with the Australian Health Policy Institute. His research evaluated the 20th century epidemic of coronary heart disease (CHD) in terms of determinants and trends. CHD control policies and their roles in the decline of the epidemic were also assessed.

Masoud completed his Medical Doctorate degree through Tehran University of Medical Sciences in 1997.

Prior to beginning his PhD in 2002, Masoud worked as general practitioner in rural areas of central Iran for almost two years and continued his career in Health Promotion Department of Yazd Central Health for three years. He conducted a number of health promotion needs assessment projects and campaigns to control non-communicable diseases including CHD. During this time, Masoud was a health media consultant and appeared in more than 100 radio and television health programs.
