Industry
The Oxford Health Alliance includes academia, government and non-government organisations alongside the private sector, including some global corporations.
Our determination to work with industry is driven by the necessity to engage them in being part of the solution to complex problems of chronic disease and climate change. Health and disease are not generated in the health system but are largely a function of the way we live and interact with our environment. The current problems of health and climate change cannot be resolved in isolation from the private sector.
The Oxford Health Alliance is mindful of the potential difficulties associated with industry partnerships and guards against them by::
Openly describing its methods
Making public the names of its collaborators and funders
Having and following transparent guidelines for working with industry
Prohibiting the use of its name in association with specific products
Essentially the Oxford Health Alliance wants to work with people and organisations whose goals align with the promotion of health and human capital. This is described more fully in Can public health advocates work alongside industry?
There are synergies between the Oxford Health Alliance Asia-Pacific Centre and USISS Health Theme and their work with industry. For more information, please visit the USISS Health Theme pages.
