National Preventative Health Taskforce January 2009
A submission was made to the National Preventative Health Taskforce. The submission draws attention to the need for a broad approach with multiple ‘players’ in addressing the social, cultural and environmental factors related to issues of overweight and obesity, tobacco and alcohol (and their associated inequities). The relationship between environmental sustainability, health, social equity and social justice should be more strongly reflected in the priorities for action and a comprehensive research program is needed to better understand and tackle the ‘causes of the causes. It called for the NPHT to adopt and apply The Sydney Resolution in its recommendations.
National Health and Hospital Reform Commission October 2008
