Focus of the Vision-Hearing Project
  1. To identify the prevalence of DSI among those attending vision rehabilitation services

  2. To assess the amount of unmet need for hearing services, objectively (screening audiometer) and subjectively (HHIE) among those attending vision rehabilitation services

  3. To determine the effectiveness of the 'hearing screening model', in terms of improvements in access to services and aids, measured by:
  4. * Uptake of recommendation for hearing services
    * Uptake of hearing aids / ALDs when recommended
    * Reported use and satisfaction with aids (IOI-HA)

  5. To determine the effectiveness of the 'hearing screening model', in terms of any perceived positive benefits to the individual with regard to:

    * Hearing handicap (HHIE)
    * Health related QOL and mental health (SF-36)
