Dr Seham Girgis, Senior Research and Project Manager, The Diabetes Unit
Seham Girgis

MB BCh (Cairo) MPH (UNSW), Grad Dip Appl Epi

Seham joined The Diabetes Unit in October 2007 as a Senior Research and Project Manager. Her major responsibility is coordinating the development of four NHMRC guidelines for type 2 diabetes.

Prior to joining The Diabetes Unit, Seham worked as an Evidence Manager at the Centre for Research, Evidence Management and Surveillance (REMS), Population Health, Sydney South West Area Health Service. Before that, Seham worked in several positions including Research Fellow in Epidemiology of Heart and Vascular disease at the George Institute for International Health, University of Sydney; Senior Project Manager at the Needs Assessment & Health Outcomes Unit, CSAHS and as a general practitioner for twelve years.

Seham is a public health researcher. Particular areas of interest and expertise are population health outcomes; technical aspects of health service research; quantitative research methodology; and design and management of randomised controlled trials. Seham has been involved in several research projects in a wide variety of areas and settings including general practice settings, health promotion and disease prevention and has published in these areas.
